On Tuesday we hit the 90th day of school. It’s crazy to think we are already half way through the year.
Over the past few weeks Alara, Noelia, and Raylen have starred as “Person of the Week”.

Students continue to be introduced to a new letter each week. Last week students were introduced to our last vowel (Ee-Ed-/e/). Now that we have learned and had some time to practice the vowels in isolation we will begin to put them together with other letters to build simple and more complex words. Students have also been introduced to 4 new word wall words and are encouraged to use them during writer’s workshop and recognize them in books and poems they read.
Home/School Connection: Be on the lookout for these word wall words when reading books at home:
me, I, the, can, see, it, is, in, go
Throughout the month of January we have continued to work on retelling familiar tales of 3. The Three Little Pigs has been a fan favorite and we practiced retelling this story by building each house and acting it out using puppets. Students worked in small groups to build 1 of the 3 houses. The challenge was to build their assigned house while using teamwork and listening to everyone’s ideas. Students did a great job negotiating with each other and each group got the job done! Once the 3 houses were built we enjoyed retelling the story over and over again. Check out a few pictures of us building and reenacting in action:
