The past few weeks have been quite exciting in kindergarten. Our ladybug larvae came and we were able to watch them go through their life cycle and turn into adult ladybugs. Although we were sad to release them last week, we discovered amazing things were happening on our playground. Yesterday, Troy noticed something small and yellow on the side of a tree…they were ladybug eggs! Today, we went back to check on the eggs and were so surprised to see a ladybug laying more at that very moment! We were so excited we could hardly contain ourselves!
We learned quite a bit about ladybugs and their life cycle. You could ask your kindergartener…
-How does a ladybug’s life start?
-What comes after they hatch from their eggs?
-What happens after the larva stage?
-What happens after the pupa stage?
-How many legs does a ladybug have?
-How many body parts do ladybugs have?
-What is hiding under the Elytra (the outer shell)?
-Why are the Elytra so important?
