Each week we will learn a new poem and practice reading it all together throughout the week. Our poem this week was called “The Apple Tree”. The first day we read it a few times all together so we could hear what it sounds like. Students watched as I modeled how to point to each word as we the poem. Later in the week we thought of ways to act out the poem. Ask your kindergartener to show you how we acted out our poem!
One of the literacy centers at the end of the week was to read the poem with a few friends. Students were provided with pointers to use to point as they read. Check us out!
The Apple Tree
Way up high in the apple tree
Two red apples smiled at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could
Down came the apples-
Mmmmmm they were good!
